Biography

Sofia sees corneal and external eye disease and runs the laser vision correction assessment clinic. She turns down more people than she treats, and considers that the point of the clinic rather than a shortfall of it.

She also fits the specialty lenses for irregular corneas, which is slow, iterative work that most practices send elsewhere.

Education & Experience

Sofia trained in ophthalmology and completed a corneal fellowship, with a period spent in a keratoconus service. She has worked in refractive surgery for eight years and lectures occasionally on patient selection — which is, she will tell you, almost the whole subject.

She chairs the clinic’s consent review, and rewrote its information sheets when she arrived because, in her words, nobody signs what they cannot read.
