Infrared Surface Thermometer

A pistol-grip infrared thermometer for surfaces rather than for people. In a practice it lives in the glazing lab, where a frame heater that has drifted out of range will craze an acetate front and a lens oven that runs cold will not finish a coating.

Emissivity is adjustable, which matters when the same instrument is pointed at matte plastic in the morning and polished metal in the afternoon. Maximum, minimum and average hold are on the trigger.

The laser marks the center of the measured spot; the spot itself widens with distance, and the ratio is printed on the body so nobody has to guess how close to stand.
