Glaucoma is a group of conditions that affect the optic nerve. It is usually managed rather than cured, and management depends on measuring the same things in the same way over time so that change can be recognised early.
Individual readings vary. Pressure changes through the day; a field test depends partly on how tired you are. What the clinic is watching is the direction of travel across visits, and that only works if the visits happen. Reception books the next appointment before you leave for exactly this reason.
Options range from observation, through topical medication, to laser and surgical procedures. Which is appropriate depends on the type of glaucoma, the pressures, the state of the nerve and your own circumstances. The clinician will set out the options that apply to you and what each one involves.
If you are already under treatment elsewhere and moving your care here, bring the letters and any field printouts you have. Continuity of the record is worth a great deal in a condition monitored over years.

A single field test is a snapshot and is affected by tiredness and concentration. What the clinician is looking for is a trend across several tests, which is why the schedule matters more than any one result.
Treatment is decided case by case and reviewed at every visit. Some people are monitored without drops, some use drops long term, and some are offered laser or surgical options. Your clinician will explain what applies to you.
